There is much discussion about the value and dangers of social media. Personally I have a rule that I only have “friends” that actually are friends and are real people that I’ve met (or at least talked to on the phone).
I only have about 30 FB friends. This keeps things quite real and, in fact, are more like the old BBS discussion boards from 25 years ago. I follow few discussions and have a browser plugin that hides political posts. I have no real problem with Facebook other than it takes up a half hour of time everyday when I really should be working on something else.
I don’t entirely disagree with the author below, but I feel that cutting the social connection is a little extreme without trying to manage things first.
