eBook Formatting Service

I have been documenting the process used to produce formatted eBooks for Kindle, Smashwords and Barnes & Noble. I think that I have it down to a couple of hours per book, so I can start charging for this.

I am now accepting books. The cost to authors is $35 plus $1 for each thousand words over 50,000.

Send me your novel, preferably in RTF format. Send cover images if you want them embedded in the book.

I will clean up the formatting and simplify it. I will retain bold, italic, etc, but I will recast headings into standard styles. I will remove fonts I will remove line spacings, indents and other things that confuse the eBook readers.

I will add a Table of Contents, if you have chapters. I will place page breaks at the start of chapters.

I will not change words. I will not “correct” your content.

What you will get:

You will get a Mobi file for Kindle, plus the html file that was used to generate the Mobi file (this may be zipped if you include a cover image). You will get a MS word DOC file for use on Smashwords. You will get an RTF file for use on Barnes & Noble.

I expect payment on delivery. If you are not satisfied, I do not charge.

I will tweak the results for you three times, but after that you are on your own.

If I am busy, it may take a few days for me to get to it. I expect that the turnaround will never be more than a week.

Send me your book.

Buy the Book!

I cleaned up my tab for Sonny Boy's Help Me and made it into a short book. There's a Kindle version for 99 cents, and if you buy the paperback you get the Kindle free.

I also write Science Fiction, so you can sample some of my best stories. Also available in Kindle format.

I started reading Science Fiction in the 1950s. I started Writing SF in the 1960s. Then, I had a life. Now I am retired, raising chickens and keeping bees. I am still an avid reader and I have sold about 70 stories in the last 20 years.
I have been collecting information about writing Science Fiction for many years now. Social media has replaced the Blog and large dedicated websites, so the pages here are mostly static. I update them from time to time.
