Chance meeting

I walked down to a Swiss bakery about 5 blocks. You can get almond croissants there that are amazing and they have strong European style coffee.

The counter person was chatting with a tall man at the counter. As I came in she asked him where he was from and he answered "across the bridge". I asked him where and we started talking. He said his name was Larry Thorpe. I asked him if he knew a James Sylvester Thorpe, nickname ST He said that ST was his brother.

Small world. I went to elementary school, Jr. High and High School with ST and he was one of my best friends and part of our gang of Central Nyack kids. We did everything together all through our school years. I haven’t seen ST in 39 years.

ST is in North Carolina and has had a bunch of kids and grand kids. His hair is now white. I’d love to sit down with James and have a few beers and talk about the good old days.

It’s a very small world.
