Gracie is not amused

The wild turkeys are back and they have occupied the picnic table in the back 40. This is one of Gracie’s favorite hangouts.

Erica emailed me the picture. You can see the effects of the wind storms that we’ve been having. There are lots of white pine branches all over the yard.

Do you let Gracie out when the turkeys are perched there? What does she do when she sees them?

Gracie crouches low to the ground and watches them. I found Furry in the front of the house watching them from under a bush. The turkeys are huge, but there are only two of them, originally there were five or six. Maybe others did not make it though the winter. I think, though, these two might both be males, so it could be that the dominant male chased them off and they are on their own, away from the rest of flock.

I took more pictures, but they don’t like people, now, and I couldn’t get close. Last fall they walked right up to you to get bread. Now they run when they see you.
