Geoff Hartwell is David Hartwell’s son. David Hartwell’s wife, Kathryn Cramer, also known as the SpecFic Blogger Bitch by the conservatives that hate her, has a blog at http://www.kathryncramer.com/. Her blog has been less than interesting lately, but sometimes she has some good stuff. She not only blogs but has done some investigative reporting and some interesting applications of mapping technologies to global disasters.

Anyway their son is a Blues guy who runs a Blues Jam in Pleasantville, NY (near where the Clinton’s live). I’ve jammed there in the distant past. I somehow got on his mailing list. He sent me a message that starts:

Geoff is playing down at the Parkside Lounge in NYC. It’s at 317 E. Houston between Ave A and Ave B. Friday, October 5.

I won’t be going. I seldom leave the burbs go into the big city anymore. Ave B and C at Houston is a BAD neighborhood, although not as bad as when I lived in the East Village. I might be fun, though, and it should be attended by Science Fiction people like Cramer, her husband David Hartwell and the Gang from the Making Light Blog, Teresa and Patrick Nielsen Hayden and the writer Jim Macdonald.
