County Blocks

I host my blogs on my own websites, but I use to manage the posts. Blogger is simplistic, but it works. I would like all the features of WordPress, et al, but blogger is simple and painless.

I work for the County Government (I won’t say which). They just put in blocking software that keeps me out of all of my email accounts and sites such as Amazon and eBay. They blocked I do most of my blogging at night, but this blog often has stuff that I think of during the day and post when I get a free moment.

I think my internet output will be severely diminished now that my internet input has been blocked for most everything.

At IBM the attitude was that everything that you did on the internet added to your knowledge base and thereby added to the company. They encouraged surfing.

Do you have a wireless laptop? You can always work from that during the day…….

I have a laptop with wireless, but there is no hotspot at work. I work in a large office building.

The proxies won’t work because it looks for specific strings such as “mail” in the url in addition to a list of blocked sites. Also the proxies are the first thing that they block.

I started sending out resumes. I’ve been on this job for over 3 years. It might be time to change.

With Blogger you can save as draft and post latter. Is that an option for you?

I can’t access Blogger – or most of my websites – at all.

With blogger there is a Co-op feature where you can team up with another partner/ Blogger. Maybe email your posts to him and work out that way. but if your locked out completely then you have some issues. I hope you get this fixed up, I like coming to your Blog.

Here in Edmonton City council is considering making the whole downtown core as one big hot spot. For now it’s just talk.
