Ipod text converter

I am getting into a mode of programming that I haven’t experienced since the late 1980s. I used to write huge amounts of ShareWare programs. I made some good money in 1989 (about $40,000) on a few of my successful programs. I stopped programming for free because Window programming required too much of an effort to produce the small utilities that I liked to write. Later, when I programmed in VB, I was writing very specific applications that did not have the broad appeal that shareware requires.

Lately, PHP has changed all of that. PHP lets me do low level coding and still use a web interface to display the results. PHP is written by hackers and I Grok it completely. I am producing very small one-shot programs that may be useful to someone.

The latest program that I have written is a utility that will take a web page and convert it into 4K chunks formatted as Apple iPod notes files. I don’t own an iPod, but I am always looking for new ways to display stories and reach a larger audience. As soon as someone with an iPod can verify that the converter works, I will create a utility so that the readers of Astounding Tales will be able to read the zine on their iPod.
